A day in the life of… a Massey Wilcox driver – Part 2

Actros 2545 - Massey Wilcox (11)[1]

In this instalment of Rygor’s ‘A day in the life of…’ blog, we catch up with Steve Look from long-standing customer, Massey Wilcox just after he boards the ferry at Calais, following a delivery in France this morning.

Wherever Steve is in the world, Massey Wilcox HQ can track the vehicle he’s driving using Fleetboard technology on the Actros. The Fleetboard system can monitor driver performance, fuel consumption and track vehicle location, to ultimately help save money through fuel efficiency and improved driver performance.

When I started driving the new Actros, which was commissioned especially for Massey Wilcox’s 60th anniversary, I had the opportunity to receive driver training from Guy Danvers at Rygor.

I have driven a lot of trucks in my time, but I thought it was a good idea to have a bit of updated training, as every truck is different. Guy was great, really helpful and had an extensive knowledge of the industry and having been a driver himself, he truly understood what was important to me and the company.

The training allowed me to enhance my driving style to get the best out of the truck and ensure that I was driving in the most fuel efficient way. Little adjustments on driving style can save a lot of money when it comes to fuel efficiency.

With the Fleetboard system too, the team at our headquarters receives regular reports, which allows them to review driving style and fuel economy. These reports allow them and me to ensure that we are getting the most out of our trucks, which is a real benefit to the company.
